    I’d like to (not) file a complaint

    I find myself complaining a lot these days.  Always trying to make excuses or find a scapegoat for all of the problems and afflictions that I am sooooooo burdened with.  It amazes me how easy it is to complain about anything.  This lecturer stinks.  I don’t get this material, so thus it must be poorly taught.  It’s really cold today, what the heck.  Damn, it’s too hot now, why can’t it be colder?  I’d like it if you appreciated me a little bit more for my efforts, I’m trying here.  You know I really don’t have to do this, I’m helping you out cause I asked you to.  Ugh, why is this not working?  And on and on and on.

    But at some point, I have to realize that all the complaining ultimately boils down to one thing: ME.  Why is this affecting ME?  How are you putting ME at a disservice?  How could you do this to ME?

    And it’s funnyserious (ferious? furious? no that’s an actual word), cause you don’t see Jesus being all like “I DIED for you.  How could you be doing this to ME?”  Which, if He did, I wouldn’t have much of a response.  But He doesn’t do that, instead gently and patiently reminding me that He loves me and did die for me, thus not only making my complaints petty in comparison to what He had to sacrifice, but also nullified because I have gained from said sacrifice.  To put another way, why am I complaining when I have something more precious than ____ (insert any and all idols here)?

    Stop complaining.  Start rejoicing.  The end.
